System Analysis: Our problem solving methods are based on a systems analysis approach. The key to this process is to determine the root cause of a problem; however, we do not start by searching for the cause.

First, we study the situation to gain a thorough understanding of the problem and its effects. We then brainstorm a list of all potential causes until confident that most, if not all of the probable root causes of the problem have been identified. The team then ranks the probable causes and tests them with appropriate hypotheses until the root cause is determined.

We then develop a list of potential solutions and rank them in terms of probable efficacy, cost, timeline, and risk. The most promising candidates are prototyped and tested until an optimal solution is proven out.

The design is then implemented, and effects of the changes are monitored in the field to confirm that the problem was resolved without recurrence. If not, the team will regroup and refine its analysis and implementation.
