World Bicycle Relief, an organization started by SRAM Corporation and Trek Bicycle to distribute bicycles to third world countries, teamed up with IDSA for an open competition to design and build a bicycle trailer. WBR aims to improve economies through the use of bicycles, and envisions the trailer being used primarily by small businesses to haul equipment.

DI formed a team of engineers and designers not only excited about a design challenge, but also the opportunity to volunteer their talents for a worthy cause.

While all of the entries exceeded expectations, WBR and IDSA selected DI’s trailer as the winning design. The trailer design is being studied to further refine requirements and determine the most relevant markets for future sale.
