Our design studio recently collaborated with Paul Maslin at PM Woodwind Repair, a top saxophone repair technician and an authorized dealer of Selmer, Yamaha, Yanagisawa, Keilwerth and other leading horn brands. Paul’s shop was running low on inventory of his line of custom brass saxophone resonators. So, he reached out to our team to help to update his design files and find a new precision machine shop to make future production runs.
The project ran smoothly, though we had to check out over 40 candidate vendors before finding a high-quality, local machine shop that could make the parts per specs with competitive pricing. On the sourcing side, it was a bit of a challenge as well as a lesson on how sometimes we just have to put our heads down and keep trying and knocking on doors until we find what we’re looking for.
