InSinkErator, a global leader in food waste disposal innovation, retained Design Integrity to collaborate on the development of the new BOOST™ injection system. The Boost™ injection system supports the digestion of solids, helps reduce odors with a fresh citrus scent, and reduces food waste build up in septic systems and pipes.*

Challenge
Septic systems may/can struggle with the breakdown of food waste, especially in homes with garbage disposals, which can result in system overload, unpleasant odors, and costly maintenance. InSinkErator sought to create a compact, easy-to-install device that would accelerate biological activity, support the digestion of solids, reduce sink odors, and minimize food waste build-up in septic systems and pipes without the need for major changes to existing plumbing.
Design Solution
Design Integrity collaborated closely with InSinkErator’s engineering and marketing teams to develop a new system that introduces a blend of enzymes and bacteria into the septic system during garbage disposal use. The BOOST™ device integrates seamlessly with existing disposal units, and it automatically dispenses the treatment solution at optimal intervals.
The device is compact in size to fit into tight undercounter spaces. The refill cartridge can be replaced without the need for tools, and LED lights on the device show the status of the system and refill. The device can be installed without tools, the refill lasts up to 3 months with constant power from batteries or an outlet, and it provides a visual indicator for cartridge replacement timing.

Our team at Design Integrity augmented the talented engineering, marketing, and manufacturing staff at InSinkErator. We took the lead on the industrial design effort, and we contributed significantly to the mechanical design, electrical control system, and user interface development.
The joint project team worked together seamlessly to ensure that the product would be intuitive to use, reliable, and at a level of quality commensurate with the InSinkErator brand identity. The new BOOST™ device strengthens the brand and positions InSinkErator as a leader in kitchen innovation.
Initial Market Success
Following its initial market launch, the InSinkErator BOOST™ system has gained strong traction across the US market. The device and refills are now available through leading outlets including Home Depot, Walmart.com, Build.com, and various other retailers.
Early product reviews highlight the BOOST™ injection system’s ease of installation, odor-reducing citrus scented formula, and effectiveness in managing the health of homeowners’ septic systems.

2025 KBIS-IBS Launch
InSinkErator announced the BOOST™ system at the 2025 KBIS and IBS shows in Las Vegas. The product received a lot of press at the show including videos shot with top home improvement influencers. We were able to spend a few minutes with key InSinkErator team members at the show and congratulate them on the successful product launch.
